Getting started

  1. Make an assessment of what you do in the garden -  what chemicals do you use ? Why do you use them ?
  2. Ask yourself - could you and would you be prepared to change ?
  3. Could you use additional knowledge and better techniques to eliminate the need for  chemicals ? See it as a learning opportunity.
  4. Consider soil management - get to know your soil, use good hygiene, and rotate crops.
  5. Manage weeds and pests by vigilance and good husbandry.
  6. Create a balance with nature and enjoy the benefits of encouraging wildlife.

OK. IT can be hard going to begin with, but by integrating a variety of horticultural techniques your gardening will be easier, more rewarding and highly satisfying.  And you will have the satisfaction of doing your bit for the planet.
